christmas ornaments

hi there! wowzers- it's been awhile since i've posted! i've been working kind of a lot, and to be honest, i haven't been terribly creative in quite some time. HOWEVER- the zach and i have been making christmas ornaments!! and no, it is not too early!! :)

these ornaments are all made with a canvas front that has been painted in acrylic by either zach or me. the back is from a variety of scrap fabric. they are all stuffed, so they are soft little friends!


zach also found a recipe for a dough that you can sculpt, bake, and then paint! it went something like:

ingredients-
4 cups of flour
1 cup of salt
1 and 1/2 cup of warm water

mix salt and flour well, then add water
kneed well
bake at 225 degrees F for an hour

note: DO NOT EAT- they are technically edible, but are totally gross. trust me, zach tried them when he was a kid and i did two days ago. gross.

a successful sunday

hellooo! today was a pretty good day. :) i think my sinus infection is going away- so that's good! i also finished up my self-portrait that i started last night.


i also painted my pumpkin...

the lighting isn't the best, but you get the idea. there are actually quite a few colors in the teeth and eyes.

i also made chicken noodle soup! complete with carrots, potatoes, green beans, corn, celery, chicken, and of course, noodles! yumyumyum

i also did a load of laundry- but there's no fun in posting pictures of that.

whelp, back to work tomorrow! byebyebye!

happy october!

hello there and happy october! to celebrate this glorious month and fall's beginning- zach and i enjoyed some tasty autumn treats! to start off, we bought ingredients for apple pie and drank apple cider. then, we grabbed a sampling of fall/pumpkin beers. the most delicious was shipyard's pumpkinhead.

after this, zach and i started up our apple pie. and after much anticipation our apple pie was complete...

and it was...DELICIOUS!!!!!!!

i then headed back out to grab more pumpkinhead- but they were out! :( no worries- i got...

tonight was extremely successful.

new job new beginnings

whelp- i've got a week down at my new job at payless shoes. so far so good! i really like my coworkers and i'm interacting with customers very well.

on another note, things with zach are better than ever! we've been able to spend a lot more time together and are almost always running on the same wavelength. i am so so so excited for the wedding next june!!

i've also started sewing again! nothing big- just little projects. i've also been really interested in matryoshka or nesting dolls. i did a 2x2 painting on birch wood of a matryoshka doll. i've also been hoarding old frames which i also put to use for this project.

hi there. :)

we've gotten even more wedding planning done lately. such as starting save-the-dates! check check check it out!

sooo cute! they are going to be mounted on robin's egg blue cardstock with all of the details printed on the back! love it!

let's see- ah yes! we are getting our engagement pictures taken next weekend! september 10th. they're being done by the fabulous rachel pierson! she took the photo on my 'introduction' blog. it's all going down at the gardens at the IMA. gorgeous. she also agreed to do a small shoot on campus.

all in all, life is pretty good! ...aside from the whole jobless thing. i've been applying at a few different places, but it doesn't really seem like anywhere is hiring. bahh everything will work out. :)

on another note: the kitchen/dining room/ living room are clean! want proof?

also, zach and i are having our engagement party september 18! the theme is FOOD! everyone that's coming has been asked to bring their specialty dish. sound be a tasty evening. :)

wedding planning!

so, zach and i have gotten some serious wedding planning done lately!

So, as you might have figured, the documents are really rolling in. The solution?

as you can see, the wedding planning is really coming along and i couldn't be more excited!!

310 days!

s'more brownies

last night zach and i were craving a sweet treat and decided to make one up. here's what we came up with!

you'll note that some of the marshmallows were smashed-meh. anyhow, we just took a box of brownie mix and followed the instructions. then, we mixed in about a cup of halved walnuts. after that, we followed the normal baking instructions until pulling it out, roughly 5 minutes early. filling the house with the aroma of chocolatey goodness. we topped the brownies with crushed graham crackers and halved marshmallows. we popped it back in for the last 5 were very pleased to see perfectly toasted marshmallows. yum!! after zach insisted we let them cool for at least 20 minutes, i dug in- burning my fingertips. so try to be patient. :)

these s'more brownies are seriously delicious.

on another note- i just moved into a new apartment! my brother and his best friend came down to help zach and i with everything, which was a huge help. hence, the lack of blogging. the new place is awesome! pictures to come... :)
